...but my site is mostly videos now as I am more of visual person and I feel that videos can best portray a mood, an inspiration, an outfit and an overall look.

however, I just wanted to show off the new coat I purchased at Holly!

This jacket comes from Canadian based label, Pajar.

Pajar is a family company established in 1980 by the Golbert's. Originally a shoe company recognized for being a pioneer in premium leather shearling lined boots, Pajar is expanding their product line into outerwear, and Holly is fortunate enough to carry a small collection of their product. The outerwear line is very new and does not have much visibility in the market (which is great, because the last thing you want is a jacket that every other Tom, Dick and Jane purchased just around the corner) yet, but once people start noticing the styling of these coats, mainstream recognition will follow. So be a trend starter instead of a trend follower. Although this is a womens jacket, I have no problems rocking this bad boy out as it fits me PERFECTLY (I have the body the size of an elf...) and will look even more amazing on the ladies!

So why do I love this jacket? 5 reasons:

1. It a Down filled puffy jacket
2. Rabbit fur lined collar and aviator styling, which is very on trend for Fall/Winter 2010/2011 (e.g. Burberry)
3. PU material, to give it a nice touch to the plethora of puffy jackets out there
4. Canadian based brand. Enough said.
5. I got it from Holly ! Which is an awesome woman's clothing boutique in Gastown (Cordova and Homer!) that carries a lot of hard to find brands. The pricing is more mid-high end (This jacket is $450, but a worthwhile investment for the quality and construction), but guarantees to have you walking out with one of a kind pieces that very few people will have. Kudo's to standing out, which is what Holly boutique strives for!

So yeah.... don't expect to see a lot of written posts or posts that are about me! It's all about videos!!!

Givenchy
First bag up is the lovely and hard to find Givenchy Nightingale. While not new a style per se to the designer hand bag market, it is still a classic that shouldn't be ignored. This hot piece of leather became a total WANT when I spotted the lovely Ashley Olsen workin' it like the rock star she is. God I love her.

Its simple, big and gender bending. Its multifunction in a sense that it can be carried by the top handle or slung over the shoulder with the shoulder strap. It's a classic shape with beautiful Givenchy leather. Its not trashed in logos and branding, but is subtle with minimal detailing. I can totally see myself rocking this and want want want it. Thanks A.O. for being my style muse and inspiring me with your lovely wardrobe and bags. Yes I am guy. No I am not a tranny. Its inspiration not replication.

Mulberry
The Mulberry Balthazar Holdall is the newest edition to the Mulberry bag line. It is a classic bag with a classic shape that is guaranteed to be good for all seasons. Mulberry is all about quality and simplicity with little to no embellishments or branding. It's all in the aesthetic and feel when it comes to purchasing a Mulberry bag. Just looking at the Balthazar you can tell that the leather is nice and the size is just right for both men and woman. It's a classic holdall/sac that is guaranteed to work any day of the week when you're out doing your business. Men, this is the bag to get if you're new to the (man)bag world.

Gucci
Last is the Fall '09 men's Clutch from Gucci (which is now sold out)! Clutches are the latest trend that are getting more recognition in the men's market and Gucci has created a very edgy piece to add to this trend. I first laid my eyes on this when I was at the Gucci department at Nordstrom's with my cousin, who almost purchased this bad boy. I didn't think much of it because it seemed that a guy couldn't pull it off at at first, but as I looked at it more closely and checked out the collection on Mens.Style, I realized that this was actually presented as a men's clutch, and thus my interest was sparked! A man clutch is perfect for that quick "fix" bag that you can toss in only the essentials of your necessities (e.g. wallet, phone, iPod and gum). It has been given a "harder" more masculine/S&M look through the embellished detailing of the leather trim and cuff, black chains, studded zipper and Gucci plaque. Its black, rough, and punk with that whole bondage/goth chic.

Afterthought - Classic vs. Seasonal

As you may have noticed all the bags that I discussed are Gender Benders, meaning that both men and women can use. There is no wrong or right answer to what bag to get, because the bag you use is the bag that you should feel confident in using and not have to worry if it "works" or not. A bag should be like any other accessory and it should be treated like one, its not an outfit, but it does complete and sometimes transform a basic outfit and into something more refined. Something every style conscious individual should seriously consider.

When it comes to purchasing a bag, I am not demanding that you go out and spend thousands upon thousands of dollars on the latest Chanel or Python Gucci. It's about investing in a quality premium product that is guaranteed to last you throughout every season.

Quality and exclusivity is not cheap, and you have to go to reputable sources to attain that. When you purchase a designer handbag your not "throwing" away money, you're investing your money in a product that is guaranteed to be backed by excellent reputation and amazingly unique styling.

Depending on the bag and style, that money you spent on a bag could become a positive investment as some designer hand bag pieces will appreciate in value. Take the quilted Chanel handbag, a bag that gained tremendous and instant demand (Thanks to The Hills) from media, causing the price to increase from a previous $2000 to upwards of $3500 and up due to supply and demand.

The key is to purchase a bag that isn't far fetched and "trendy" , but classic simple pieces in timeless colors, shapes and sizes that can stand the test of time. These are guaranteed to not look dated and guarantee that your bag stays on trend with whatever comes out in the fashion market.

If it is your first bag, I highly suggest purchasing from a designers Classic collection, as opposed to a Seasonal collections. This is primarily due to the fact that Seasonal collections (if not sold out) will go on sale once the season is over, which leaves you left with a bag that has instantly depreciated in value from the full price you pay.

If you have an amazing eye for styles, then go for a Seasonal because if your eye really is on the mark, it will be added to a Classic collection and increase in value.

Seasonal is more appealing to the eye as it is priced lower and tends to be more edgy and elegant than Classic. However with the higher price you pay for the simple and more basic Classi, it is guaranteed to never go on sale, which in the end is a satisfying feeling when you're dropping a good chunk of change.

In the end the decision is up to you in terms of how you weigh the benefits.

So why continue to throw away your money on fake knockoffs (don't even GET ME STARTED on that..) or cheap quality bags that will unravel and deteriorate, when the money can be put towards a quality designer bag that you only need to buy once?

Like shoes, bag's are one of those essential ingredients to add spice and flavor to your everyday attire. A quality bag can add much confidence to your outfit and provide an almost established look to your work attire.

When shopping for a bag, quality is ESSENTIAL in whether or not it does what it is supposed to do. A ratty old bag will only subtract points from your outfit... and you don't want that.

So in the words of my bitch Mel from whatmelwants.com, here are a couple of bags that are "The Want" for me at the moment...:

Louis Vuitton
LV. it isn't a brand that I adore due to the fact that it is far too main stream and knocked off like a Lady Gaga Halloween costume.. but regardless, LV is a legend when it comes to handbags and is internationally recognized and adored, so you can't go wrong with an LV. What swayed my eye towards this brand was the LV collaboration with director Sofia Cappola (The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette) , "The SC". This is an everyday bag at its finest, the LV leather is superb and looks like a quality piece from afar and it pimp slaps you in the face with perfection up close. Sofia simply stated when designing her collection,

"My idea of Louis Vuitton was of a company with a great heritage and great quality, and working with them solidified this."

It is not oversized like the Givenchy Nightingale, and not miniature like the FW '09 Gucci clutch. The size is just in between and looks flawless with its subtle branding mid top and multifunction top handle + shoulder strap. Along with the day bag, the line also has shoes and clutches. Proenza Schouler
The Proenza Schouler PS1 is a style that was released back in Fall '08/'09 (..I think.. don't quote me on that) and is a modern take on the "office" messenger bag. It is classy and professional, but can also be worn super casually. When the PS1 first came out, it was the Olsen twins who truly brought it to fame when they were caught all around NY toting this lovely piece around. Next thing you know, blogs and fashion mags are creating the buzz about this coveted bag, when it was released everyone was getting their hands on it.

What makes this bag appealing is the duality between office-chic and every day bag. In particular it is the detailing and inclusion of the leather straps and buckles with the shape that gives it that "leather briefcase bag" combined with quality leather finishes, materials (python, suede, shoulder strap and top handles) and colors (rich velvet blues, suede yellows and patent blacks) that provide a more fashion forward result to a boring office bag.

From time to time, especially guys, I always hear them say "I don't need a bag... what the heck am I gonna put in it?"...and to be honest it baffles me. In my opinion, one does need a bag...whether it be big, small, backpack or a simple canvas tote! You. Need. One. How else are you going to carry your belongings??! In your pockets like a 12 year old?

If you got shit going on in your life, then you need a bag, especially in today's society where you have a plethora of essentials. What essentials you ask? Well to give you an idea, my much loved black cracked patent leather Dior Homme Deville carries the following:

iPod
Blackberry
PSP
Notebook + Pen
Uno (can always rely on Uno to liven up a social gathering)
Umbrella (always needed in rainy Vancouver) + Sneakers (so I can change out of my gumboots)

Mini Pouch: Meds/Vitamins/Handsantizer/Sani-Wipes/Tissues

So maybe I am a bit extreme... but I like to be prepared and pretty much most of those are essentials! iPod, Cellphone, Wallet and Umbrella alone cannot fit in your pockets and if they do you're pretty much looking like an idiot with bulged heavy pockets weighing you down...

All the ladies understand the necessity of a bag... so much love to you all.

But men...I don't know how you can justify not having one! A person from the forum at superfuture summed up the necessity of a (man)bag quite well:

"if you don't have shit to carry around, then you're officially a bum that doesn't have
shit going on in his life, in my book. unless you're one of those dudes that likes walking around with bulging pockets for that "i'm only 12 years old" look.

is it really a question of "what do you need it for?" doesn't everyone have shit to tote around every once in awhile?

i need a place for my mp3 player and phone, which i don't put in my pockets. i need a place for a few pens and a notebook. i need a place for a pack of fucking gum, and if i'm bringing lunch to work, i need a place for that. if i've got a book to read or a magazine or if i plan on picking up some books or magazines, i prefer sticking them in my bag. the tees i'm selling? in my bag until i can make it over to mail them out.
business cards? party fliers? chopped up kids? in my bag. drugs? in my bag.
your girlfriend's phone number? in my bag. your girlfriend? in. my. bag."

So enough of that... because I could go on and ramble for days on end about this issue.

It is always around this season (for obvious reasons) that Burberry becomes much more widely recognized.

This year, Burberry has a new project called "The Art of Trench", which is a collection of photographs of fashion saavy everyday people in the classic Trench.

“For the launch of the site, Burberry Creative Director Christopher Bailey commissioned a collection of photographs of trench coats wearers taken by photographer Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist. For this first collaboration, Scott has been capturing street portraits of people in Burberry trench coats in London, Milan, New York, Paris, Berlin, Sao Paulo and Venice over the last few months.”

My girl at whatmelwants posted about the Aritzia Lace Dress that is in high demand at the mo'. Check it out to see how a Lace dress should look and be worn.

Here's a word of advice bitches.. this dress does require some fashion savvy'ness in order to pull the look off flawlessly...especially if you don't live in fashion forward cities like LA, NY or Paris... So study how various fashion icons (e.g. Erin Wasson and Chloe Sevigny) wear their lace dresses and peruse around to see whats available out there.

The key is to look at the actual fabric of the lace material and see how sheer the fabric is and where the placement of the sheer open work construction hits your body. Ensure that the garments you wear underneath blends in with the lace so it doesn't scream panties and bra, but just an extra subtle detail to the dress.

Failure to keep this in mind will have you pulling a Lady Gaga... which you don't want. Because you'll probably look trashy. and cold. and you might get h1n1. and then die because you didn't get the H1N1 vaccine.

I know I know, its sooo late. But I still felt compelled to post it for those who have not yet seen the campaign plastered over the Burberry stores...

Who woulda thunk a student at Hogwarts could enter the muggle world and become a fashion icon? Going so far as to being made the face for Burberry's F/W '09 campaign! Apparently the man behind Burberry, Christopher Bailey, has been friends with 19 year old Emma for quite some time and had his eyes on this little witch for a while. So, for F/W '09, he got what he wanted.

Trop mignon, in my opinion. The styling of course is always in sync with Burberry's usual aesthetic and look.
What else is there to say ? Its Burberry. Trenchcoats, Burberry Plaid and classic Brit beauty with a modern edge.

I still can't get over how amazing Emma Watson looks. Quite a change from the little Hermione Grainger in the first Harry Potter to now.

As you all know it was NY Fashion Week and Milan Fashion week recently, and of course everyone is giving the latest scoop to em. I'll just cover the highlight for me, and that was definitely Prada S/S '10 collection.

oh.em.gee. i die. Miuccia slayed Milan fashion week this year with her amazing and optimistic collection that focused on edgy cuts and flawless shapes.

This season Miuccia focused on the perfect paradox of opposing elements and crossbreeding them into a hybrid of pure perfection.

The look seems like it was inspire by Scuba gear with shapes that swoop out and an almost sleek like material that is reminiscent of scuba diving material. "Scuba Couture"

At the sametime the collection was very truncated and sliced, taking the beginning of a couture like piece and hacking it off with the frays exposed, giving off a very expensive and luxurious look to each piece.

Prada's collection definitely focused on hard and soft using transparent crystals w/ something hard like metal wiring to create an almost chain mail like piece. Detailing was key as well, from far away it may look like a regular bold print, but upon closer inspection you see this totally new look of Miami Beach like prints and amazing bright colors against a cold dark print.

Paula Reed from Grazia quoted it as "Ancient Balenciaga with Trapeze line shapes, those kind of beautiful fitted dress sitting so fitted on the body but then looking like some Miami Trash Postcard!". Couldnt've said it better.

Everything about this collection is edgy and Miuccia has definitely broken the mold and provided something new and different with a feeling of optimism and excitement for the future!

I'm sorry, but unless you're going to a rave party.. I dont see why anyone would wear these god awful jeans...

Diesel has developed a denim with stitching that glows in the dark. Enough said.

So far a pair of womens Matic have been released and there is talk that their will be a men's pair released as well....

This is definitely one of those novelty pairs that are nice to look at...not to wear. However, I think this only glows under UV Light.. which means it isn't really glow in the dark now is it?

what's next? strobe light denim?

I think Steven Alan has just been added to one of my fave designers!! what an amazing way to present your collection! Loved this short film and loved the chemistry between the male and female. Loved the outfits! SOOO CUTE! This is totally the look i am loving at the moment, classic vintage looks.

Loved that torquise blue dress with the cinched belt!! SO ADORABLE. Love the cuffed trousers with the plaid shirt. Classic and simple prints! This is the kind of look i am talking about. Its not serious, its fun, it's casual and its classic! *sigh* I miss summer already!

M83

I have always been a steady fan of M83, and they're one of those bands that I can feel comfortable playing on my iPod without have to worry about skipping tracks. I love listening to M83 while in the midst of something (reading, eating, travelling, working).

Today while I was on my way to work, I had M83's 'We Own the Sky' playing and as I look outside at the sky with the clouds somewhat clearing and birds flying it really felt like watching a music video. It's moment's like these that make me appreciate bands like M83. To be able to create music that fits so perfect with certain moments that you don't really take into consideration is something truly invaluable.

While the song 'We Own the Sky' isn't new per se, it is an amazing song. I like the music video as well, it is from their latest album Saturdays = Youth. For me, this is one of those videos that makes you smile a little....

However, I still think Sigur Ros is the all time greatest band out there; and the album was produced by Ken Thomas who has is also responsible for producing Sigur Ros!

Unis is a Brooklyn based brand created by Eunice Lee. The styling focuses on a minimal vintage feel on masculine cuts and pieces. Think fashionable Italian meets Preppy Hipster Brooklyn (e.g. casual airy vintage style dress shirts and relaxed worn in trousers). According to Interview, "The eight-year-old brand is creatively helmed by Lee and is run by a small staff promoting a grassroots New York company, with a by-locals-for-locals attitude."

While the brand focuses more on tailored menswear (Eunice Lee's forte) she does come out with a few exceptional pieces for women that I definitely like.

The styling and look of Unis is definitely along the lines of Band of Outsiders (for men) and Boy, but definitely not as pricey. Price point ranges from $128 - $220. Which isn't too bad.

Trailer for a (semi) new film by M Blash (who is the same director that did the Levi's "Go Forth" campaign) titled, Lying. The film stars Chloë Sevigny, Jena Malone, and Leelee Sobieski. The film itself is an Official Selection of The Cannes Film Festival, Directors Fortnight program. Visually artistic, and John Maus' Do You Best is very fitting for the trailer. Hits theaters September 11.

I for sure will be watching it...

My FW inspiration has arrived just in the nick of time as August officially ends and a new season and month begins!

Its official, summer and beautiful weather officially ends once dreaded September rears its ugly head with School and crappy weather. But that does not mean our wardrobe has to suffer. One good thing about September: BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING!! Even for those of us who don't have school; that does not mean we can’t do Back to School Shopping! It's a new season, so to welcome the Fall, why not celebrate it with new pieces for your Fall Wardobe? Let's call it, "BACK TO FALL SHOPPING".

Now is the time to start considering and doing the ol' switcheroo from our summer wardrobe, to our Fall/Winter ones. Although, September in Vancouver does continue to stay a bit warm; it doesn't hurt to start prepping for the dreary weather to come.

With that said, what better time than to post my F/W ’09 inspirations!

When it comes to drawing inspiration it isn’t the next big cutting edge fashion trend like metallic studded skinnies (e.g. Acne) or over the top 80’s glam rock outfits (e.g. Marc Jacobs) that i look to include into my inspiration. Instead, what catches my eye and think "love it" are realistic outfits that any guy or gal can create and feel COMFORTABLE (not just physically, but mentally) in.

My inspiration is all about casual comfort, simplicity and classic looks that make you look like you know your fashion, how to shop for any season and you aren't trying too hard. Like the amazing Alexander Wang; I strongly believe in that "model off duty" look for three reasons: It's personal, It's easy and it's what your comfortable in!

Levi's is back.

Latest AD campaign for Levi's:

Titled "Go Forth" and created by ad agency Wieden+Kennedy; the campaign goes back to it roots pays homage to what Levi's quintessentially represents: The Classic American Jean.

I really like this ad campaign and found it stays true to what Levi's is all about and from this I can definitely say that Levi's is coming back, and is reclaiming what is rightfully theirs.

Having previously worked in retail at Levi's, I can honestly say that Levi's has always stayed true to their roots and never strayed (too far at least) from the overall look of what Levi's is all about: a timeless classic pair of jeans, an affordable price and a recognizable wherever you go.

Having been hammered and beaten down for quite some time from new denim brands out there and an unstable brand position, Levi's is now repositioning and revamping their look to what made them the one and only denim brand in the 80's and 90's. With newly renovated stores that have a darker, more vintage and western feel, collections that go back to the vintage roots and the injection of commercials that inspire "wild freedom" with a shot of sexiness (staying true to what Levi's used to represent); Levi's is ensuring that they show these One Trick Ponies who the real badass mofo is.

No matter what, Levi's is a brand that everyone will always go to and recognize throughout history and no other brand can measure up to what Levi's has accomplished. When you think of denim you think Levi's

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this look! something about a blazer or nice button up dress shirt on a women that I just love. The mix of casual and formal is something that I always favor and always catches my eye . The masculine look and feel of a blazer or fitted and tucked in dress shirt for a female gives off a very confident, powerful and strong look. Its Serious but Fun at the same time. Match it with a pair of jeans (ripped or clean), a killer purse or clutch and shades, and smashing foot gear and you have an classic outfit with a lot of edge . An outfit with a blazer or dress shirt definitely veers away from your junior look, but creates a more mature adult style that is guaranteed to impress! Anyone can create this look and it is fantastic for someone who doesn't want to look like they are trying to hard to look fashionable!

Masculine pieces that work just as well for a woman as it does for a man!
